Pastor -
Brenda Martin Hurst

Brenda has served as the pastor of Frazer Mennonite Church with joy and passion since September 2007.  She loves this grace-filled, diverse community which seeks to embody Jesus’ compassion in this world and to live into the peace and wholeness that Jesus came to give.

She came to Frazer with eleven years of experience in pastoral ministry at Tabor Mennonite Church in rural Newton, Kansas (1986-1997) and six years of teaching experience at Eastern Mennonite Seminary in Harrisonburg, Virginia as assistant professor of practical theology (2001-2007).  In 1986, Brenda earned her Master of Divinity degree from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana (renamed Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary).  She was ordained for pastoral ministry in 1988.  She received her doctoral degree in History, Theology and Ethics from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia in 2003.

Brenda is married to Ray Hurst who is Director of Pastoral Care and Services for three Living Branches retirement communities in Lansdale and Souderton, Pennsylvania.  They have two young adult sons: Zachary (married to Alicia) and Matthew, and a new grandson, Everett.

When not engaged in pastoral ministry activities, Brenda enjoys making quilts and quilting, reading novels and memoirs, and dabbling in historical research projects.
