WHAT TO EXPECT

Worship Experience at Frazer

An informal and intimate worship experience.  People of all ages are involved in leading various elements of our worship service.  Children are welcome to be present and to participate in the worship service.   A weekly time for Caring and Sharing allows us to bear one another’s burdens and share in one another’s joys. Click on the Service Schedule tab for a typical order of service.

Hearing scripture and listening for a message.  In every worship service you will hear one or several scriptures read.  Usually these are read from the New Revised Standard Version, but sometimes from The Message by Eugene Petersen or the New International Version.  Every Sunday, we listen for the living word of God from these readings.   Pastor Brenda usually shares a message focused on these scriptures and related to our contemporary lives.

Music is an important part of Frazer worship.  We sing a mixture of hymns and contemporary songs from Hymnal: A Worship Book and Sing the Story.  We most often sing a cappella but it is not unusual for hymns and songs to be accompanied by piano, guitar, flute, drums, strings or wind instruments.

A child-friendly place.  Not only are children welcome in our worship service, they are also invited to participate in singing, reading scripture, collecting the offering and more.   Most services include a children’s song as toddlers through grade school children come forward for a children’s time geared to their levels of understanding the theme and scripture for the morning.   Children’s bulletins, offering activities related to the scripture or theme for the morning, are provided for children ages 3-6 and ages 7-12.  In addition, worship bags for younger children are provided in the back of the sanctuary.  A nursery, staffed by trained caretakers, is available for infants through age 4.  An infant nursery where parents can comfort, feed, and change their infants in a quiet space with closed circuit TV of the worship service is also available. Twice a year, we have Children’s Sundays in which the entire worship service is geared for children’s levels of understanding and attention spans.

Casual and comfortable dress is the norm, but a variety of styles can be seen any given Sunday morning.  So feel free to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable for worship.

An inviting and welcoming atmosphere.  You can expect to be personally greeted and welcomed to worship, not only by the official greeter inside the door but by others who approach you to make you feel at home.  Most services include a welcoming time when we stand up and greet those around us.   A 20-30 minute coffee and fellowship time following the worship service allows more time for conversation and getting to know one another.  At the same time, children have their own snack and fellowship time downstairs.

Celebrating communion together once a month, usually on the third Sunday of each month.  We welcome all to the table to eat and drink the gifts of life that Jesus offered.  Grapes are provided for children to enjoy.   Gluten-free bread is provided.
