More about our speaker, Nina:
Nina identifies as a Nuyorican Afro Caribbean born to parents who were a part of the Puerto Rican Diaspora to New York in the 60’s.
She is a mother to Alexis David 39, Nathanael Emmanuel 28 and Abuela to LuryAnna 17 years of age and on her way to change her world as well!
Her lived experiences as Boricuas, both bitter & sweet, eventually led me to Alianzas.
In my 2010 internship year at The University of Valley Forge, I formed a group of community leaders and stakeholders to address the substantial population of Latinos living in the shadows while amplifying the voices of folks who had much to say about the community they too called home. Alianzas de Phoenixville, a 501c3 nonprofit, was then established to ensure equity and the dignity of our comunidad which now has served over 40 countries with programs such as ESL, Food & Clothing Pantry, Leadership Academy, Legal Consultation & Mediations.
Nina is a member of the Phoenixville Hospital Tower Health Board of Trustees, she has been appointed by the Chester County Board of Commissioners to the Women’s Commission, The Chester County Children Youth & Families Advisory, served on the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation and now on the Governance and DEI Committees.
